
Athens State University is pleased to announce that Cedrick Nkulu will be joining the University as the institution’s Chief Information Officer (CIO).

Nkulu’s career as an information technology professional spans over 15 years. Most recently, he served as Chief Technology & Information Security Officer at University of Tennessee Southern where he managed IT strategic plans, budgets, and policies while aligning IT initiatives with the university’s goals and enhancing operational efficiency. Before that, he served in many other roles at the institution including Director of Information Technology.
Nkulu earned his Master’s in Information Security & Assurance from Middle Tennessee State University and his BA in Business Administration from UT Southern. He also holds several certifications including Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP), GIAC Critical Controls Certification (GCCC), and CompTIA Security +.
“I am excited to welcome Cedrick Nkulu to Athens State University as our new Chief Information Officer,” said Dr. Catherine Wehlburg, President of Athens State University. “His leadership comes at a critical time, as technology continues to evolve at a rapid pace, and I am confident he will help us navigate this ever-changing landscape with vision and innovation.”
Nkulu is scheduled to begin his duties on August 1.
