Athens State University is pleased to announce that Cheesecakes & More will be coming to campus to serve as the University’s new food service provider. Slated to open in the Student Union Building on July 1, 2021, the business will be open to the public as well as Athens State students, faculty, and staff.
Owner Juanita Healy currently runs Cheesecakes & More in Decatur, Alabama, and said the new location will feature the same setup as her current restaurant but will offer more space for customers. The restaurant offers daily hot lunch specials, burgers, chicken finger baskets, and hot and cold sandwiches, like BLTs, paninis, chicken salad and pimento cheese, as well as a variety of baked goods and sweet treats such as muffins, cupcakes, specialty cakes, danishes, and, of course, cheesecake.
Healy said she loves Athens and sees this as a great opportunity and “nice step” for her business. She said the current iteration of Cheesecakes & More has been in business for a little more than a year, but she has been selling her wares for more than a decade. “Based on (the restaurant) that was previously (at Athens State), it seemed like a good fit, and we have gone from there. I’m looking forward to it.”
