Every year, the Athens Ladies Civitan Club awards a $500.00 scholarship to an Athens State student who is majoring in education with an emphasis on special or general education. The year’s recipient is Dana Lawrence from Arab, Alabama. Dana is an Elementary Education student minoring in English Language Learner.
Civitan International’s focus is to help improve the lives of children and adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities through local support, scholarships, and cutting edge research at the Civitan International Research Center at the University of Alabama at Birmingham.
