Athens State University invites the campus and community to a special International Women’s Day screening of LILLY, starring Academy Award nominee Patricia Clarkson.
This powerful film tells the true story of Lilly Ledbetter, a tireless advocate for equal pay, whose courage and persistence helped spark one of the most significant workplace equality movements in American history. Her fight ultimately led to the Lilly Ledbetter Fair Pay Act of 2009, a landmark piece of legislation advancing pay equity for women across the nation.
Through compelling storytelling and an unforgettable performance by Clarkson, LILLY shines a light on resilience, justice, and the power of standing up for what is right—values that resonate deeply with Athens State University’s commitment to leadership, integrity, and opportunity for all.
Guests are invited to attend a pre-event art exhibition titled “Wise Women” featuring the work of Char Baxter, a current Athens State MFA student. The exhibit will be open from 6 – 7 pm in the Nazaretian Alumni Welcome Center. Artist, Char Baxter, will be on site for a meet and greet.
