Please join us as we celebrate International Women’s Day as part of the “Athens Forever” Bicentennial Series at Athens State University!
International Women’s Day (March 8th) is a global day of celebrating the social, economic, cultural, and political achievements of women while reinforcing a commitment to women’s equality.
The celebration will be held in Carter Gymnasium and will begin at 10:30 AM, as Kristin Scroggin, keynote speaker, delivers “Shoot for the Stars,” a discussion about being real, setting goals without guilt, and realizing the importance of self-care.
Lunch will be served at 11:30 AM, along with fun trivia games to keep everyone engaged and allow networking among other attendees. “Panel with Pizzazz” will be held after lunch, providing a chance for attendees to learn alongside each other as our panelists discuss a number of different issues, what keeps them motivated, and how anything is possible with the right support network.
Panelists will include: Elizabeth Thomas, Brandy McCain, U’Meeka Smith, Kennedy Malone, and Missy Ming Smith (moderator).

About Kristin Scroggin:
Kristin Scroggin can’t do math or bake a pie, but she knows her stuff when it comes to Generational Diversity and Communication! Kristin has a Master’s degree in Communication Studies, a Bachelor’s in Communication Arts, and has been a Communications Professor at the University of Alabama in Huntsville for 15 years. In 2017, she launched her company, genWHY Communications, and has been a Keynote Speaker at more than 100 conferences and 250+ organizations across the United States, ranging from Fortune 500 companies to tiny non-profits.
