The B.F.A. in Theatre degree program at Athens State University is a professional designed to offer intense experiential training opportunities in theatre for students to seamlessly transfer into completing a Theatre with Athens State University.

Students earning a theatre degree will acquire various fundamental performance and production techniques, develop dramaturgical skills by learning to critically analyze dramatic literature, and gain knowledge of current trends in the performing arts industry. Students will select one of three concentrations:

  • Performance
  • Production Design
  • Musical Theatre
  • Theatre Education

Drama and Theatre Arts majors are also desirable employee candidates in a variety of areas such as acting, directing, writing, producing, managing, designing, set construction, teaching, community activism, and art center management.

The required studio training reinforced through practical artistic experience with three annual mainstage productions, will allow B.F.A. in Theatre graduates to create a portfolio, which is immediately applicable to entering the professional world or to continue their studies in an M.A. of M.F.A. program.
