
The Athens State University Honors Program recently hosted the inaugural Student Scholarly and Creative Work Showcase. The purpose of the event was to provide students with an opportunity to showcase and present their scholarly and creative work.
Twenty-three students from multiple disciplines around campus presented their research or creative work posters at this year’s showcase. The winners of the student poster competition were:
First Place: Daniel Selsvik (Psychology major; faculty supervisor Dr. Mark Reynolds) for his poster entitled “Assessing and Evaluating Self-Reported Perceptions of Support Systems and Interpersonal Relationships in Rehabilitated Brain Injury Survivors”
Second Place: Shiloh Whatley (Biology major, faculty supervisor Dr. Shannon Pittman) for her poster entitled “The effects of substrate type and desiccation on anuran behavior”
Third Place: Lanie Guffey (Biology Education major, faculty supervisor Dr. Sara Cline) for her poster entitled “Comparison of the Sin1 gene between D. melangaster and D. subobscura”
