Tyler Jones Named Executive Director of LaunchBox

Athens State University is pleased to welcome Tyler Jones as the new Executive Director of LaunchBox.

Jones is a third-generation, dynamic entrepreneur hailing from the heart of Decatur, Alabama, where his innovative spirit has thrived. Over a span of more than a decade, Tyler has spearheaded the creation of four successful ventures, each reflecting his unwavering commitment to adaptability and innovation.

He graduated from Huntingdon College armed with ambition and a determination to make a difference. With a keen eye for opportunity, Tyler established The Railyard restaurant in Decatur, AL, a venture that quickly became a cornerstone of the local dining scene, showcasing his ability to create dynamic experiences.

Recognized for his outstanding contributions to the business community, Tyler was honored with the prestigious Baker-Cook-Jones Small Business Award, further solidifying his reputation as a trailblazer in entrepreneurship.

In addition to his professional endeavors, Tyler remains deeply invested in nurturing the next generation of business leaders. As a mentor for the Decatur-Morgan County Midland CEO program, he imparts invaluable insights and guidance to aspiring entrepreneurs, empowering high school students to realize their dreams of success. He shares his journey with his wife, Anna, and their two children, Oliver and Piper.

As the Executive Director of the LaunchBox at Athens State University, Jones is eager to leverage his experience to support aspiring entrepreneurs and small business owners in Athens-Limestone County. “I’m deeply committed to fostering a culture of innovation and excellence, guiding entrepreneurs towards success and empowering them to realize their full potential,” he said. “At LaunchBox, we stand firm in our dedication to providing the resources and support necessary for small businesses to thrive and make a lasting impact on the Athens-Limestone community.”

LaunchBox’s mission is to provide coaching, counseling, and consultation to business startups, small businesses, and businesses in transition. Operated by Athens State University, LaunchBox was established to develop a local, innovative ecosystem through collaboration, educational programming, and community engagement.  The project is supported with funding from Athens State University, Appalachian Regional Commission, and the U.S. Department of Agriculture. Formerly known as the Center for Lifelong Learning, It is located at 121 S. Marion Street on the east side of the Limestone County Courthouse Square.
