Athens State TEACH Scholarship & Financial Support Opportunities

The Athens State TEACH program offers multiple forms of financial support to eligible teacher candidates to assist with coursework, certification requirements, and apprentice teaching experiences.

Available Funding Support

Eligible students may receive support for the following:

  • Reimbursement funds for required background checks and fingerprinting
  • SL&L funding and first-attempt Praxis exam funding
  • $250 Grant for completion of Steps 1 & 2 coursework at a community college
  • $2,400 Tuition Scholarship per year, based on hours enrolled
  • $2,500 Apprentice Teaching Scholarship

Important Note:
The total amount of financial aid (including grants, scholarships, and loans from federal, state, institutional, and private sources) may not exceed the Cost of Attendance.


How Do I Apply?

There is no separate application for this scholarship. Students are automatically considered and eligible once they:

  • Complete ASTE 303, OR
  • Are enrolled in ASTE 303 and ASTE 325 during the same semester

Am I Eligible?

To qualify for the Athens State TEACH Scholarship, students must:

  • Be a Biology, Chemistry, or Mathematics major
  • Select a minor in STEM Education
  • Complete or be enrolled in ASTE 303 (as outlined above)

Eligible students automatically receive funds once program requirements are met.
