Program Options
Bachelor of Science in Computer Science
Computer Science is a broad field that deals with the study of algorithms, programming languages, and the design and analysis of computer systems. This field of study is concerned with the development of software and hardware components that enable computers to process, store, and communicate information efficiently.
Computer Science students are able to choose one degree concentration to specialize their studies – software and systems, cybersecurity, or intelligent systems. All computer science degree concentrations provide a strong foundation in programming, business analysis, problem-solving and software engineering with practical experience in contemporary computer laboratories.
Master of Science in Computer Science
Graduates from the Master of Science in Computer Science program will be equipped with the knowledge and skills to successfully compete for advanced positions in both software development and information technology operations, while also being prepared for continued graduate studies in the field.
Graduates will have the ability to:
- Communicate computer science concepts, designs, and solutions for specific problems
- Apply knowledge of computing to produce effective solutions for specific problems
- Identify, analyze, and synthesize scholarly literature relating to the field of computer science
- Use software development tools, software systems, and modern computing platforms
Choose from the Capstone (non-thesis) or Thesis option, and further customize your program by choosing areas of specialization:

Master of Science in Cybersecurity
Graduates from the Master of Science in Cybersecurity program will be equipped with the knowledge and skills to successfully compete for advanced positions in both software development and information technology operations, with a specific focus on cybersecurity and information security. Graduates will also be prepared for continued graduate studies in the field.
Graduates will have the ability to:
- Apply skills and techniques for securing a variety of computing platforms
- Make managerial decisions informed by cybersecurity considerations
- Quantify the value of Information Technology (IT) assets and the associated risks
- Understand the Computer Science and IT components that relate to cyber-attacks and how to deter them
- Convey the legal, ethical, and privacy issues associated with information security/assurance

Information Technology
An Information Technology degree provides students with a strong foundation in programming, problem analysis, problem-solving, and software engineering significantly supplemented with practical experience using hardware and software resources available in contemporary computer laboratories maintained by the Department.
In many ways, information technology is a primary driver of innovation. Not only does innovation help drive business growth but it encompasses so much of our everyday lives. From banking to education, information technology is pervasive and will only continue to grow.
Information Technology students also have the opportunity to select one of three concentrations: Applied Information Technology Concentration, Computer Networking Concentration, and Health Information Technology Concentration.
