Athens State University is proud to celebrate our most important work, awarding diplomas to our graduates and recognizing the power of education to transform their future. The Homecoming Celebration, including the Summer Commencement Ceremony, has become important not only for our new graduates but also for our alumni.
Friday, July 31 & Saturday, August 1
All alumni, students, faculty, staff, friends, and members of the Athens State community are invited to join Athens State University for our annual HOMECOMING CELEBRATION as we recognize and celebrate our alumni. This year’s event begins on Friday, July 31 at 6:00 PM with a complimentary dinner, followed by live entertainment. This event is free courtesy of the Athens State University Alumni Association. Please RSVP by clicking below, or you may contact the Office of University Advancement by email or (256) 233-8185.
Homecoming weekend will continue on Saturday, August 1 as we honor the Athens College Class of 1970, who will be celebrating the 50th year of their commencement, alongside our current spring and summer graduates. They will cross the stage in full regalia to receive special recognition prior to the awarding of diplomas for the Class of 2020. Due to social distancing restrictions, this will be a ticketed event for only graduates, honorees, and their guests.
We ask that members of the Class of 1970 contact us if they would like to participate in the graduation ceremony on Saturday, August 1 at 12:00 PM Noon. Please contact the Office of University Advancement at 256-233-8185 or by email to RSVP.
