Athens State University will be hosting a Community Block Party on Friday, October 20 as part of the annual Homecoming Celebration.
This FREE event is open to the public and will take place on the Founders Hall Green. The Community Block Party will feature free entertainment by The Flashbacks Show Band and magic tricks by world-class magician Scotty Wiese. Food trucks will also be onsite (available for purchase). Children 12 and under can also enjoy free face painting, games, and activities at the event’s Cubs Corner.
The Community Block Party will begin at 6:30 pm, with The Flashbacks Show Band performing at 7:00 pm. Guests are encouraged to bring their own chairs or blankets. The Flashbacks Show Band is a multi-dimensional band playing only the hits of Motown, Disco, Pop, Rock, and today’s Top 40. The musicians in the group come together from a wide array of musical backgrounds and have been likened to such performers as the Temptations, with dance moves and showy choreography. The fun they have with audience interaction and with each other on stage is contagious, resulting in great fun for everyone.
Scotty Wiese is a magician and human-connection speaker. He is best known for his upbeat corporate shows performed around the world, as well as his own public produced shows in Denver, Colorado.
Scotty was six years old when he began pursuing his passion for magic and had his first live performance at the age of nine. Since then, Scotty has performed with internationally recognized musicians such as Luke Bryan and at hundreds of Fortune 500 corporate events every year.
What makes Scotty’s magic so unique, according to his clients, is the tremendous way he blends magic and his life experiences to tell stories, form a community, and motivate others to chase their own dreams.
