My name is Joseph Colunga. I am a junior here at Athens State and I am an education major. I have always been interested in education and learning about other cultures and languages. After graduating from Wallace State, I began my search for schools with great programs that were affordable. That is when I came across Athens State and the Men of Kennis (MOK) scholarship. As I looked further into the scholarship, I realized that this was a program that I wanted to be a part of. The MOK program is not only helping me continue my education, but it is allowing me to see just how important people of color, and more specifically men are needed in the classroom. My goal as a future educator is to be a role model for all students regardless of their background and to inspire them as I once was by my teachers. I appreciate Athens State and the MOK program for giving me this unforgettable opportunity.
