Academic Update
The removal of this requirement does not reduce the total number of credit hours/classes required for a degree. Instead, it provides students with greater flexibility by allowing other coursework to fulfill those credit hours while supporting their academic and career goals.
Effective Fall 2026 (Academic Year 2026–2027), the history or literature sequence requirement will no longer be required for most degree programs, with the exception of programs that lead to teacher B certification.
