In-Service Center

The Athens State University Regional In-Service Center was established by the Alabama Legislature in 1984-85 as one of eleven regional in-service centers in the state.

These centers represent partnerships between higher education and the Alabama State Department of Education (ALSDE) to serve the professional learning needs of Alabama’s public schools.

In addition, the Athens State University Regional In-Service Center is home to three state initiatives including the Alabama Math, Science, and Technology Initiative (AMSTI), Alabama Science in Motion (ASIM), and Technology in Motion (TIM).

Do you have a data-supported need within your district, school, or grade level that can be addressed through a book study? Athens State RIC may be able to provide financial support for your developed book study plan. Complete a Book Study Request and submit to Holly Wood at Holly.Wood@athens.edu for consideration.

NATIONAL BOARD CERTIFIED TEACHER SUPPORT

Are you interested in pursuing your National Board Certification? Athens State RIC facilitates monthly support meetings that provide information on each of the four components, as well as access to current NBCT teachers who review and provide feedback on your completed written work. See the 2019-2020 NBCT Monthly Meeting schedule for dates and locations of these monthly meetings.
