Athens State University is excited to introduce a new license plate design that is now available to Alabama drivers. The refreshed, colorful new plate features Athens State’s mascot Hebrew the Bear and replaces the University’s previous Bicentennial themed plate. The new design was created after gathering ideas, preferences, and feedback from Athens State’s faculty, staff, and students.
“We can’t wait to see this new design out in the wild — on highways, in parking lots, and at stoplights,” said Chris Latham, Chief Marketing Officer at Athens State. “It’s one more creative way our community continues to show pride in Athens State.”
By purchasing the new plate, drivers can not only show their Athens State pride, but also help fund student scholarships. The plates cost $50.00, which is added to the driver’s annual registration fee. Out of the $50.00 fee, $48.75 is returned to the University for student scholarships – directly impacting students and their quest for success. Free license plate personalization is also available.
