Five Athens State students were recently honored at the 2018 American Advertising Awards in Huntsville. Jess Charlton, Rachel Matthews, and Laura Smith each won a Silver ADDY; Rachel Jackson won a Silver ADDY and a Gold ADDY; and Derek McElroy won two Silver ADDYs, a Gold ADDY, and Best In Show (student).
The regional competition represented the entirety of North Alabama, and winners were deemed as best in their market. Students awarded Gold ADDYs will have their work forwarded on to the District competition and will compete against winners in other local clubs in Alabama, Georgia, Florida, and Mississippi.
As the largest competition in the advertising industry, the American Advertising Awards strive to “recognize and reward the creative spirit of excellence in the art of advertising.” The AAF Student American Advertising Awards Competition is designed just for college students and receives over 40,000 entries each year from students across the nation.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]
