The Alabama Center for the Arts is pleased to announce its newest exhibit, “Orchestrating Beauty: A Synthesis of Nature and Technology” by Shawn Donahoo, set to open in the Center’s Main Gallery on Monday, May 6 and remain on display until Monday, June 10.

Orchestrating Beauty explores “the beauty of nature beyond the natural.” “Technology is always pushing the boundaries of what is possible, and we can use it to reach beyond what we know,” Donahoo stated. “It offers a bridge to connect us to a previously unseen shore. The thrill of exploration can be a powerful experience that opens our imagination to new worlds.”

Donahoo is a formally trained orchestral composer who has developed an original process for creating imagery from the perspective of a musician. His orchestral compositions will also be featured in the gallery during the exhibit to enhance the experience. He holds degrees from Berklee College of Music (Bachelor of Music-Music Synthesis, Boston 1989) and the University of Alabama (Master of Music-Composition, Tuscaloosa, 1993) and has been an active member of the Huntsville Art League since 2020.

Donahoo’s work is also on permanent exhibit at the Huntsville Art League Gallery at Lowe Mill ARTS & Entertainment in Huntsville, Alabama and can also be viewed and purchased from the following sites: https://shawndonahoo.com and https://shawnedonahoo.bandcamp.com.

A “Meet the Artist” reception featuring Shawn Donahoo will be held on Friday, May 17 from 5:30 – 7:00 pm in the Main Gallery.

Viewing the exhibit will be free and open to the public. The Alabama Center for the Arts is open Monday through Thursday from 8:00 am – 8:00 pm and on Friday from 8:00 am – 12:00 pm.
