Dr. Katherine Kandalec Holm Appointed Interim Dean of the College of Education

Dr. Katherine Kandalec Holm was recently named Interim Dean for the College of Education at Athens State University. Dr. Kandalec Holm began her new role on Monday, February 6, 2023.

Dr. Kandalec Holm received her Doctorate in Education in Adult and Community College Education from North Carolina State University; Masters of Education in Workforce Education and Development from the University of Georgia; and undergraduate degrees in Accounting and Business Management from Athens Technical College as well as an undergraduate degree in Business Education from the University of Georgia.

Dr. Kandalec Holm is an educator of prospective career and technical education teachers with more than 16 years of experience in Career and Technical Education (CTE). She has instructed at the high school, community/technical college, and university levels and is a frequent presenter at national and international research conferences where her work focuses on the intersection of research, practice, and perceptions. Dr. Kandalec Holm has served the University as an Assistant Professor for CTE and Professional Studies for six years.

As Interim Dean for the College of Education, Dr. Kandalec Holm will maintain strong communication lines and provide a professional atmosphere so the College of Education, its faculty, and staff continue the mission of preparing teacher candidates to become reflective practitioners who are knowledgeable and collaborative professionals.

“I am committed to continuing and supporting the amazing work being done by my colleagues and fostering a culture of innovation in the College of Education,” stated Dr. Kandalec Holm. “Our goal is to equip our students with the tools, knowledge, and skills needed to excel as educators and leaders in a rapidly evolving landscape. By embracing innovative practices and pedagogies, we will empower our students to explore new solutions, transform education, and improve the lives of individual students and their communities.”

Dr. Kandalec Holm is eager to continue her work alongside faculty, staff, and students so that, together, they make a meaningful impact in the lives of those they serve.
