The purpose of the Association is to develop a strong alliance with the University, encourage members to actively participate, develop resources for the University, and enhance the image of the institution.
The 25 member Alumni Board of Directors meets quarterly and is responsible for hosting several events that include:
- Awards Ceremony
- Flag Day Ceremony and Cookout
- Networking Receptions
- Fiddlers Convention Hospitality Tent
- Travel Program
- Golf Classic
The Alumni Association funds the Athenian Ambassadors and coordinates with the Young Alumni Advisory Council. They have also donated more than $293,000 to the University, students and Athens State Community since 2010 for scholarships and to support campus projects.
Alums interested in serving on the Board of Directors should fill out an application and return it to the Office of Alumni Affairs. Applicants must be a graduate of Athens State University and its predecessors who hold a current membership with the Alumni Association to be considered.
