2022 Fiddlers Concert Series to Conclude with Two Concerts in October

McCandless Hall

The Tennessee Valley Old Time Fiddlers Concert Series, presented by WYTM Country, will conclude in October with performances by Mile Twelve and Larry Cordle, Carl Jackson, & Jerry Salley. Both concerts will be held at Athens State University in McCandless Hall.

Mile Twelve will take the stage on Saturday, October 1 at 7:00 pm. Although their sound is rooted in traditional bluegrass, Mile Twelve surveys a broader landscape on their newest album, “City on a Hill.” All five band members bring their own influences and observations into the music, resulting in a project that feels contemporary, thoughtfully crafted, and relevant. The Mile Twelve lineup offers five of the most promising young musicians in bluegrass: David Benedict (mandolin), Catherine “BB” Bowness (banjo), Bronwyn Keith-Hynes (fiddle), Evan Murphy (guitar, lead vocals), and Nate Sabat (bass, lead vocals). All are credited as songwriters because everyone in the band helped shape the material throughout the writing and arranging process. This concert is brought to you by our Platinum Sponsor, Intech Athens and our Gold Sponsor, Martin & Cobey.

The 2022 Fiddlers Concert Series season will officially conclude on Tuesday, October 4 at 7:00 pm with a performance by Larry Cordle, Carl Jackson, & Jerry Salley. Audiences are offered a glimpse into the world of Nashville songwriting when Cordle, Jackson, and Salley showcase their original material during an intimate set of music. This multi-award winning “Trio” has had songs recorded by Garth Brooks, Chris Stapleton, Reba McEntire, Brad Paisley, Kenny Chesney, Loretta Lynn, Toby Keith, Patty Loveless, Joe Nichols, George Strait, Alan Jackson, and others. Awards include accolades from The Country Music Association, International Bluegrass Music Association, the Society for the Preservation of Bluegrass Music Association, Gospel Music Association (“The Doves”), NARAS (“The GRAMMY’S”), SESAC, ASCAP & BMI. The Trio has been playing music together for over 20 years and continues to leave audiences thrilled with their beautiful harmonies.

Tickets for each show are $15.00 for adults/$5.00 for children and can be purchased by visiting www.TVOTFC.org or calling the office of University Advancement at 256-233-8215.

As part of the Athens Forever Bicentennial Series, this event is sponsored by the Tennessee Valley Old Time Fiddlers Convention Steering Committee, with funding provided in part by the Muscle Shoals National Heritage Area, the Alabama State Council on the Arts, and the National Endowment of the Arts, a federal agency.
