Welcome to the Department of Humanities and Social Sciences.
Our students and faculty in the Department of Humanities and Social Sciences are dedicated to the teaching and learning of the following:
- Diversity of human thought, religion, values, and creative expression.
- The search for truth and wisdom is found in the human ability to think and reason.
- How and why humans strive to communicate.
- The nature of persuasive communication.
- The intersections between history, literature, beliefs, and human behavior.
- The history of societies and their people.
- The motivations of humans in different cultures, times, and places.
- The nature of human values is found in different cultures and societies across the world.
But more than that, we are an inclusive and engaged community that shares a love for creative exploration, critical thinking and reason, cultural expressions, and discovering how written history or literature reflects and shapes the cultures in which they are created.
