Athens State University is pleased to announce that Mr. Jonathan Craft has been named the University’s Vice President for Financial Affairs, effective July 1.
Craft currently serves as Interim Vice President for Financial Affairs at Athens State, where he provides leadership and oversight for the University’s budget, accounting, payroll, procurement, facilities, security, and financial reporting functions. A Certified Public Accountant with more than 21 years of experience in accounting, finance, and educational administration, Craft has extensive expertise in school finance, budgeting, auditing, payroll, tax preparation, and financial compliance.
Prior to joining Athens State in 2016, he served as Chief School Finance Officer for both the Hartselle City Board of Education and the Limestone County Board of Education, overseeing multi million-dollar budgets and supporting thousands of students and employees. Earlier in his career, he worked as an Attestation Senior with CDPA, PC, conducting audits for governmental and nonprofit organizations.
Craft earned both a Master of Accountancy and a Bachelor of Business Administration in Accounting from Athens State University. He became a Certified Public Accountant in 2000 and holds additional professional certifications in school finance and payroll/personnel administration. Throughout his career, he has been recognized for his commitment to sound financial stewardship, operational excellence, and service to educational institutions across Alabama.
