Teachers of KENNIS (Know, Empower, Nurture, Network, Inspire, & Succeed) seeks to increase the number of teacher candidates from various socioeconomic backgrounds to enroll and graduate from the College of Education and serve as effective classroom teachers from whom all students will benefit academically, socially, and emotionally.
Through our “Teachers of KENNIS” program, you could receive scholarships for:

Scholarship Eligibility
- Underrepresented group (educators who belong to target populations that are less prevalent within the teaching workforce) in the state of Alabama.
- Enroll in a certification in education major.
- Submit the Teacher of KENNIS scholarship application, including transcript(s) of any college credit, a 200-word essay, and a letter of recommendation addressing resiliency and perseverance.
- Agreement to participate in campus events and student success opportunities.
- Two-year teaching commitment in Alabama.
- Have a minimum 2.0 GPA; If GPA is close to 2.0, the candidate must demonstrate ability and commitment to moving GPA above 2.75 prior to their final semester.
- Part-time (6-11 credit hours) or full-time (12 or more hours).
