The College of Education at Athens State University is accredited by the National Council for Accreditation of Teacher Education (NCATE) 2010 Massachusetts Avenue, N.W. Suite 500, Washington, D.C. 20036. This accreditation covers initial teacher preparation programs. The Council for the Accreditation of Educator Preparation (CAEP) became the sole accrediting body for educator preparation providers on July 1, 2013. Its mission is to advance equity and excellence in educator preparation through evidence-based accreditation that assures quality and supports continuous improvement to strengthen P-12 student learning. CAEP has replaced the former NCATE accreditation body. The College of Education will be hosting a CAEP accreditation visit Fall 2021.
