Athens State University is pleased to welcome Dr. Glenn Conner as the University’s new Director of External Relations & Alumni Affairs.
Dr. Conner received his B.S. in Education at Athens State College, and both his Master of Divinity and Doctor of Ministry from Emory University. Prior to coming to Athens State, Dr. Conner served as a United Methodist pastor for over four decades. Dr. Conner’s experience includes pastoring congregations of 100 – 3,500 members as well as serving as District Superintendent of the Jasper and Central Districts of the North Alabama Conference of the United Methodist Church. He was also elected to the Jurisdictional and General Conference Delegation in 2004, 2008, 2012, 2016, and 2020.
As an active member of the community, Dr. Conner has been a part of local Kiwanis and Rotary clubs as well as a football and basketball official for high schools and colleges. Dr. Conner is married to his wife, Traci Conner, and they have four children (Adam, Cole, Graham, and Chandler) as well as three grandchildren (Addison, Sarah Linlee, and Heidi).
“I’m honored to serve as Athens State University’s new Director of Alumni Affairs and External Relations,” said Dr. Conner. “While I may be new to this role, Athens State is a very familiar place to me, as I graduated from Athens College in 1977. I have many fond memories of my time on campus and am excited to be back home. As I start a new chapter in my career and life, I feel blessed to be afforded this opportunity, and I look forward to meeting as many alumni as possible.”
