Athens State University (ATSU) has partnered with Calhoun Community College (CCC), Wallace State Community College – Hanceville (WSCC) and Drake State Technical and Community College (DRAKE) to offer joint enrollment programs. The Fast-Track/Joint Enrollment program is for motivated students who are eligible to enroll at both Athens State and CCC, WSCC, or Drake to concurrently earn an Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) and a Baccalaureate Degree in Nursing (BSN). Upon successful completion of the program of study, both degrees will be awarded by the respective institution of higher learning.

Admission Information/Requirements

Minimum Admission Criteria

  • Be unconditionally admitted to Athens State and CCC.
  • Student must be in good standing with Athens State and CCC.
  • Receipt of complete Calhoun’s nursing application and Athens State’s application by posted deadline. *Separate application must be submitted to each college.
  • Meet the Eligibility Criteria for nursing.

And:

  • All academic courses for both CCC and Athens State must be completed prior to beginning the nursing program.
  • A minimum of 2.5 cumulative GPA on all college work.
  • A minimum of 2.5 GPA for nursing required academic core courses
  • Minimum of 18 ACT composite score National or Residual.

Admission Information/Requirements

Minimum Admission Criteria

  • Be unconditionally admitted to Athens State and WSCC – Hanceville.
  • Student must be in good standing with Athens State and WSCC – Hanceville.
  • Receipt of complete Wallace State – Hanceville’s nursing application and Athens State’s application by posted deadline.
  • Student must meet the essential functions and technical standards required for nursing as documented at www.wallacestate.edu/nursing  – see Nursing Essential Functions.

And:

  • All academic courses for both WSCC – Hanceville and Athens State must be completed prior to beginning the nursing program.
  • A minimum of 2.5 cumulative GPA on all college work.
  • A minimum of 2.5 GPA for nursing required academic core courses
  • Minimum of 20 ACT composite score National or Residual.

Application/Program Information

Application Dates: Between March 15 and May 15 for fall entry or between July 1 and October 1 for spring entry. *Separate application must be submitted to each college.

Program Overview

  • Community College courses are face-to-face and include class, lab and clinical
    • RN License eligibility earned with A.D.N. program completion
  • Athens State University courses are 100% online in the BSN program
    • RN license requirement is waived for enrollment
    • Most affordable BSN program in the state
