Certification Assessments measure knowledge of specific content that K-12 educators will teach, as well as general and subject-specific teaching skills and knowledge. Applicants for teacher licensing must meet the requirements in effect at the time an application is received in the Alabama State Department of Education.

Assessment exams are available in computer-delivered formats only. They are administered by an international network of test centers which includes Prometric test centers, some universities, and other locations throughout the world. The University Testing Center administers the assessment exams for all College of Education students. Please visit the Center’s website for scheduling information.

After applying for Internship, passing scores for all required assessments are to be received in the Teacher Education Services Office prior to being cleared for an Internship placement. (see FAQ #1 for Internship clearance deadlines)

Plan your time wisely. Scores are reported in the following manner:

Selected Response Test (Multiple Choice) scores are reported 10-11 Business Days after the Testing Window closes.

Constructed Response Test scores are reported 15-16 Business days after the Testing Window closes.

Fee Assistance opportunities are available for candidates who meet eligibility requirements.
